At Mansfield Town Community Trust, opportunities are expanded out to Post-16 and Higher Education learners, as we support students through a multitude of education programmes in our Sports College.

LEVEL 2
BTEC DIPLOMA

REQUIREMENTS

In order to enrol on our Level 2 programme, learners require a minimum of 3 GCSE's graded 4 - 9.

Upon completing the programme, this qualification allows learners to automatically enrol onto our Level 3 Diploma the following academic year, should they wish to.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Level 2 BTEC qualification is a full-time, 1 year course, targeted at learners who have an interest in expanding their knowledge in different areas of sport, including Sports Leadership and Physical Education and Sport in School Settings.

The Level 2 programme will also allow learners to build key skills in practical coaching sessions, supported and led by our highly qualified FA Level 2 and UEFA B coaches.

Learners are also able to represent the club, in playing as part of our Post-16 squad, based at the One Call Stadium, in fixtures provided by the FA against other clubs who have similar programmes running – including Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Derby County.

LEVEL 3 BTEC
DIPLOMA / EXTENDED DIMPLOMA

ABOUT THE COURSE

The Level 3 BTEC qualification is also a full time course, which runs for 2 years. Most learners who choose to enrol on this programme join us upon completing their GCSE’s.

Throughout their Level 3 studies, learners will engage in units such as: Sports Coaching; Anatomy & Physiology; Sports Psychology; and Health, Wellbeing and Sport. The study programme also supports learners with gaining key work experience within the sports sector, an in-depth tutorial programme which covers a range of topics and themes to develop thoughts, expressive opinion and also key skills to support life after education.

The Level 3 programmes will also allow learners to build key skills in practical coaching sessions, supported and led by our highly qualified FA Level 2 and UEFA B coaches.

REQUIREMENTS

In order to secure a place on our Level 3 courses, we ask for learners to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSE’s, graded 4 to 9. These do not need to include English and Maths, as we are able to support learners through any resits for these core subjects throughout their time with us - personal tutors are assigned and will support learners in these additional areas alongside their BTEC studies.

FOUNDATION
DEGREE

Upon completing their studies within Further Education – either in-house at our Sports College, or through another off-site provision, learners can join our Higher Education programmes and work towards achieving a Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching and Development.

The foundation degree course is run in partnership with the University of South Wales (USW). Learners are enrolled as a student at USW at the start of the academic year and will study off-site, on a blended-learning basis in which they would be based locally, with us at the One Call Stadium, studying for a further two-years, attaining a University Qualification which will support their progression through gaining a career in the forever growing Sports Industry.

COSTINGS

The course costs students £8000 per academic year; however, this cost is covered by student finance. Students should also apply for financial support through student finance. (Up to date as of 2023).

PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH WALES (USW)

All lectures, seminars and tutorials are delivered in a supportive and inspirational club environment via online material. A combination of pre-recorded and live online sessions are produced by USW lectures and facilitated at Mansfield Town CTSC by our club mentor’s.
